Rainbow Falls is an 80 foot high waterfall in the Smoky Mountains. If you get there late afternoon, you may see a rainbow formed in the mist that surrounds the falls. You can also see a “moonbow” if you get there after civil twilight and before civil sunrise, and when the full moon is in the correct position. Obviously this is much more difficult than getting there for a rainbow. The hike to Rainbow Falls is about 5.4 miles round-trip, with a 1,500 foot rise over the 2.7 mile distance. After yesterday’s post about Nauset Light, I thought today would be good day to post Nauset Beach Sunrise Panorama. There were a fair number of people there for sunrise, even though it was cold and windy. Those who came just to watch stayed in their cars. The rest of us were out in the cold.
